FAQ

I have just moved to Melbourne and used to play with another Samba School – can I join?

Yes! Yes you can. Just rock up to one of our classes. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join!

I’ve never played drums, percussion or any musical instrument. Will I still be able to join in?

Absolutely! There’s always an instrument you can play and, over time, your ability to play many of the other percussion instruments will increase.

I’ve always played drums, percussion and every other musical instrument. Won’t I get bored?

No way! We’ve had many kit drummers play in the group and they always enjoy themselves as do all other musicians who come along. Playing in a group like this will provide a new experience for even the seasoned musician. Plus unlike other samba schools – you’ll get to jump around and learn to play all the different instruments and rhythms.

Where and when do you practice?

We’re currently rehearsing Thursday:

St. Ambrose Hall
3 Dawson St, Brunswick
Classes start at 7pm and run for 2 hours
Cost: $20 (concession is $15)  or 6 classes for $100
Bring some ear plugs too – as it can get a little loud

Visit our Facebook page for up-to-date information – once we know the details we will post to confirm that class is running.

I want to learn how to Samba dance – do you offer dance classes?

At this stage we only teach drumming – however we’re looking to combine a dance class with our drumming class in the near future. So watch this space!

Um, how do you say the name of the group?

It is pronounced ‘Ozi-riggy-dooom’.
